I had a bunch of girls over the other week because all of my friends seem to have boys. But we've branched out and made some girlfriends and the bonus part is that I am getting to know some pretty awesome moms, too. Kyle was upstairs and I grabbed him to carry him downstairs and when I went to step, I had to avoid a toy on the steps and I put all my weight on my tip toe and I heard a pop and got immediate pain. Then when we were outside five minutes later, Kyle was about to walk in front of a swing and when I ran to catch him, I stubbed my toe on one of the playground base pieces. Throughout the day the pain got worse and by the next day I couldn't put my weight on my foot. I gave it some time and it slowly started to feel better, but if I were on my feet for a long time, or put my foot in a tennis shoe, it would hurt. Finally, I went to see a doctor and sure enough I fractured my sesamoid. (Stand on your tip toes, the bone that is on the bottom of the base of your big toe...that's it.) So therefore, I am now sporting a boot for the next 3-4 weeks.
My lovely footwear. I blame Kyle for being so heavy. The good news is that we are going to do a lot of chilling and work on "homework!" |
Ol' Emilie is still letting the good times roll. Last week, after nap time, she came downstairs and sat by me and said, "Mom? Sometimes when I sit on the couch, it feels like there's a burrito in my pants." and then watches cartoons while I look at her and try to figure out what she could possibly be talking about. Adam and I had a big laugh about that one after we put them to bed. I mean, she doesn't even eat burritos! She's strictly a taco girl!
Potty humor has taken a turn for the worst in our house. Emi is her father's daughter and can toot with the best of them. The girls love telling me that Kyle has a stinky in his diaper. And I bring it to his attention every time he is going potty in his diaper. The more I talk about it, the more he will be aware he's doing it. And since I've been sneaking kale in everyone's smoothies, the toots have been running rampant in our house. Adam let one rip the other day and Kyle claimed it, "scuse me daddy."
Mr. Hustle here...he got out my bag of sugar and dumped it all over and stomped in it. That was fun to pick up. |
Last weekend we decided to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. A parent gifted me a gift card there and it was burning a hole in my wallet. So as soon as the kids got up, we loaded them up and I was driving. I was coming down the hill just in time to see a cop and saw that I was going 10 over the limit (we are HUNGRY in the morning!) so I got pulled over. It was my first time since 2010. So the kids were like, "What's going on?" "Why are we stopping?" "Why is the police officer coming to our car?!!" Luckily, I just got a warning. But I haven't been able to drive since. I am constantly being told by my backseat drivers, "Slow down, Mommy! You don't want the police to get us! Mom? I think you're going too fast. Be careful. We have to obey the rules!"
I haven't been able to drink coffee like I used to. It makes me way too jittery. I don't know if my body is changing, or maybe it is because Adam likes his coffee to be strong and thick like tar. He used to get his afternoon jolt from mountain dew, (Ewwww, go ahead...judge him. I am.) but once we had kids, he had to start drinking coffee. He's now a coffee snob. His favorite is to ask for a pour over at Starbucks or have them brew him a cup in their 15 thousand dollar clover machine. How do I know it costs that ridiculous amount?? Because he's already asked for one and it ain't gonna happen.
Well, the other day, I had a cup made and it was half coffee and half creamer. I took it upstairs since the angels were up there playing. I sat at the kiddy table and helped Emilie write her name and was challenging Aubrie on spelling some words and Aubrie said it smelled good and she wanted a sip. So I let her have a sip. Then Emilie wanted a sip. She got one. Then, we got involved in what we were doing and I set it up on a bookshelf and forgot about it. After lunch, they went upstairs to play again and I was cleaning up the kitchen. Aubrie came down the stairs with my empty coffee cup and said, "Mommy, I'm so so so so SOOO sorry." (I'm thinking great, they spilled it on the carpet. Shouldn't have left it up there.) I ask, "What is it, Aubrie?" and she said, "Emilie and I drank your coffee and it was really good and we are so so so so sorry!!!"
I look at the clock. 1:15.
No way are they napping. Sure enough, Aubrie was belting out every Christmas song she knew during nap time and once again, Emilie sounded like she was re-arranging furniture in her room. By the time they came downstairs at 4 to watch cartoons, they started to hit the wall and get grouchy. We all learned our lesson.
Last weekend, Adam was really tired and I told him he needed to experience napping with Emilie. He fought me on it but after ten minutes, I went upstairs and found them both snoring. So precious.
Kyle's talking a lot. I can't believe how big he is getting. My baby will be 2 in two months. When Adam leaves for work, he's usually strapped in his booster seat so he starts yelling, "HUG!!!" HUUUUUUG!!!" until Adam makes his way over there to hug him goodbye. He also uses the same force to get a toy or snack. If Emilie has a car he wants, he starts yelling, "SHARE! SHAAAARREEE!" Such good manners. And my favorite thing he likes to do is get after his big sister. If Aubrie is doing something he doesn't like, he yells, "AH-BE DANE!" (Aubrie Jane)
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far!
Love to all! Pin It Now!
