3D cupcakes and fireworks!

Tonight is fireworks at the lake.  They always have them on the Saturday of the 4th.  We had beautiful weather today.  It was a little on the hot side, but I really enjoyed it.  Aubrie, Emilie, and Petey all went swimming today.  Emilie didn't like it at first.  The water was a little cold, but then once she got used to it, she was enjoying it and splashing her hands in the water. 

Aubrie of course had fun in the water with her dad....

I have so many pictures I would like to post, but I'm in McDonald's parking lot and it is taking FOREVER!!!!!  Thank you Nashville for speedy Internet.  I forget how spoiled I am.  I can type my blogs in 10 minutes at home.  Here it has taken me a good 30 minutes. 

Granny made 3D cupcakes.  She knew Aubrie loves cupcakes and so we had a delicious treat.  I was weary of three different flavors mixed into one, but they were so good!  I took this picture of one that was bitten into.  We eat lunch, lakeside, everyday and Aubrie stuffed her face.  Unfortunately she wasn't paying attention and Petey got the last bite.  Bad dog.

3D Cupcakes

Use one white cake mix and make it as directed.  Then split the batter into thirds. 

First third add:

1 tsp grated orange rind

1 tsp of orange juice

 couple drops of yellow food color

Second third add:

couple drops of vanilla

Third third add:

3/4 tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp cloves

Then you put one teaspoon of each batter into each cupcake cup.  Bake as directed on back of box. 

For icing she did 3/4 of a box of powdered sugar, then but 3 tsp of butter on top and poured boiling water on top until it was the right consistency.  If you get it too runny, add more powdered sugar.  If it is too thick, add more hot water.  She also added 3/4 tsp of vanilla. 

They were delicious!  Leave it to Granny!!

We will be at Adam's parents tomorrow for a family party and I will have better connection and hopefully can add more pictures.  We are off to the cottage to catch the fireworks!  Love to all!! Pin It Now!
