French Toast and Friends

But friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine.

We had a wonderful friend come by for a visit this evening.  Josie Hackworth was back in town for a visit.  I played volleyball with Josie at Belmont and she's been a friend since day one.  This native Oregonian is one of my favorite people.  I can be silly with her, have serious talks with her, and we can live on other sides of the country and pick up right where we left off when we saw each other last.  I have another good friend named Josie, Josie Castillo, so there must be something about that name...

Josie is suggesting ways to extend my neck to hide my neck fat...one evening with her is never enough!
We had another showing on the house today.  No feedback from yesterday's showing yet.  Maybe they are still in shock at how wonderful our house is.  Right.

I decided to get up with Adam this morning and make french toast.  I love french toast.  It is my absolute favorite breakfast and I don't like anybody else's except my mother's.  That is why I never make it.  It is the first meal I made when Adam and I were together that was inedible.  It was disgusting.  I think I let the bread soak for too long.  I've always had mom's recipe in my box, but I never make it because I like it when mom makes it.  It's special that way.  But now I have a little monster who loves french toast.  Well, make that two little monsters.  Aubrie does a double fist pump in the air and yells FRENCH TOAST!!  So occasionally I make it for my family.

Nothing beats french toast paired with bacon.  I love bacon.  I was on a steady bacon diet when I was pregnant with Aubrie.  Every morning I ate bacon.  I have fond memories, actually, of when I had Emilie at Baptist Hospital and I ordered french toast and bacon for breakfast one morning.  (I actually fantasize a lot of my hospital stays at Baptist.  They treat me like a rock star.  I push a button, people bring me things.  The nurses are awesome and everyone wants me to be comfortable.  I LOVE IT there!)  When I lifted the lid off my tray, the syrup had spilled and I was upset that it would be soggy and it wasn't.  Even the bacon had maple syrup on it.  It was so good.  I LOVED it!

French Toast
nothing special, just mom's recipe

3 Tbsp flour
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1/8 tsp salt
2/3 cup milk
2 eggs
Cinnamon

French toast is even better if someone is helping.  Aubrie loves cracking eggs.  My mom taught her how when she made brownies with her last time she was here.
Aubrie's headband is from Wes Burtner.  He went on a missions trip to Italy and all the little girls wear these headbands that look like eyeglasses.  Aubrie loves hers.  Both as a headband and glasses.  :)

Love to all!
